The 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting is now over. We had a wonderful time on the Gold Coast and congratulate Dr Greg Mahoney on receipt of his well deserved 2018 Belisario Award.
NOTICE: Date change: Following suggestions from the membership at the AGM, next year’s (2019) Annual Scientific Meeting has been moved to Friday/Saturday/Sunday 31 May – 02 June to reduce impact on week day work time. It is still going to be held at Peppers Resort and Villas in Noosa, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, so put it in your diary!
Call for papers / speakers: Please send suggestions for speakers and topics to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org
2018 Details: Final ASDA ASM PROGRAM 21-23 Jun 2018
81 Surf Parade
QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA 4218
After the successful introduction of ASDA’s new SIMMAN ALS in 2017 and great revues of the Sofitel from conference delegates, in 2018 we will be returning to the Gold Coast. Also, following feedback from members to move the ASM away from the end of the year, this year we will be shifting it to 21-23 June 2018, so it’s not in the crazy time at the end of the year. We hope you like it!
At the ASM, we have a program of top local speakers with advice and updates to keep you current, inspired and confident that you are able to provide safe and effective sedation service to your patients.
Thursday & Friday 21/22 June 2018: ASDA Sedation Reendorsement Program (CPD: 12 Scientific Hours) The Sofitel
Thursday: Sedation Reendorsement Course – Day 1 Due to overwhelming participant feedback and the success of the Emergency Skills Management Course in improving participant performance during sedation reindorsement simulations, ASDA has decided to make it an integral part of the ASDA Sedation Reendorsement program. From 2016, all ASDA Sedation Reendorsement courses have consisted of 2 days :- day 1 being the skills refresher workshops, and day 2 being the simulated medical emergencies.
Can you implement BLS/ALS and ABCD protocols in an emergency? These workshops will develop the practical skills and knowledge to recognise and manage the deteriorating patient and medical emergencies. This day is designed to prepare participants for the Friday simulations, but is also very useful if you are operating on sedated patients or have already done your re-endorsement elsewhere to improve your performance in future emergencies.
Friday: Sedation Reendorsement Program – Day 2 The ultimate immersive experience with hi-fidelity simulation of medical emergencies to improve performance, teamwork and communications during emergencies. This is an accredited refresher course for AHPRA re-endorsement of intravenous dental sedationists. (Limited to 36 participants)
Saturday 23 June 2018: Annual Scientific Meeting (CPD: 6.5 Scientific Hours) : The Sofitel
The program for the Annual Scientific meeting is currently being finalised, but will include essential updates on pharmacology, patient management, emergency management, and regulations and is your best opportunity for CPD in Sedation in Australia.
Remember, if you are practising sedation, you need to be doing CPD in sedation!
